Voices of Experience:
From Brahms to Berlin to the Beatles
Voices of Experience, a choir for adults ages 55 and older, was created last fall as a collaboration with The Minnesota Chorale and MacPhail Center for Music. Dr. Mary Kay Geston, an associate professor of music at Northwestern College in St. Paul, is the ensemble’s conductor. Since last fall, this group of dynamic performers has grown from 13 to 26, singing a wide variety of music from Brahms to Berlin to the Beatles!
Last fall they performed with the Minnesota Chorale and the Minneapolis Youth Chorus – four generations singing side-by-side, and most recently held their final concert of the season in MacPhail’s Antonello Hall.
“My greatest joy as their director is working with the sincere and lovely members,” said Geston. “They are pioneers, in a way, and share a love of singing and willingness to put themselves out in the public eye. I admire their initiative and spirit of adventure.”
