Classes and Group Lessons
Classes offer students with the same abilities and interests the opportunity to learn individual skills in a group setting, and Group Lessons, provide teens the opportunity to create their own course of study with friends.
MacPhail is one of the few places in the region where teens can join other teens with the same abilities and interests in a performance-based group. Admission is through audition or instructor recommendation.
MacPhail offers lessons for teens interested in all genres of music from classical to jazz, hip hop, and rock. Our instructors have extensive experience working with kids ages 13-18 and understanding how to motivate and inspire their unique learning styles.
Suzuki Talent Education
MacPhail prides itself on having a well-established Suzuki Talent Education program. While parents continue as partners in the learning, the Suzuki program for teens supports their growing independence. In the Buddy Program, teens mentor and inspire younger musicians. The Suzuki orchestra, master classes and other group activities offer a sense of community to keep teens connected through their music.
MacPhail’s board certified music therapists use music to accomplish non-musical goals, and build physical, emotional, cognitive and social skills.
Summer camps provide teens the rare opportunity to connect with other musicians their age to play in high-quality groups and ensembles. All camps culminate in a live performance in Antonello Hall, First Ave or other well-known venues.
