How to register:
Children typically begin Suzuki lessons as early as 3-6 years of age. New students usually begin Fall or Spring semester. You can download a New Suzuki Student Information Packet or contact Student Services at 612-321-0100 to request a packet. You are encouraged to attend an informational meeting to learn more about MacPhail’s Suzuki program. Dates of the meetings are included in the information packet. If after reading the information you would like to be part of the Suzuki program, complete a Suzuki Placement Form. At that time, you will be placed with a teacher who will contact you with next steps. If there are not immediate openings, your child will be added to a placement list and you will be notified by a Suzuki teacher when an opening is available. For questions about the Suzuki program, please contact Kamini LaRusso at email@example.com or 612-767-5236.
Once you have been accepted, you will take the initial private lessons on the instrument without your child present. You will also be enrolled in a weekly new parent education class on Saturday mornings. This enables parents to understand the basics of performing on the instrument and teaching your child at home. Suzuki-trained students may transfer into the program as openings permit.
Parents who have attended an information meeting are encouraged to observe lessons with their children. The Guide to Observing Suzuki Lessons contains helpful information for getting started with observations. For information on observing private lessons, please contact Kamini LaRusso, Suzuki Department Assistant, at 612-767-5236 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Prospective parents are invited to attend MacPhail recitals and Suzuki Department concerts. Link to Suzuki Department Calendar
