Classes and Group Lessons:
In Classes, students with the same abilities and interests learn individual skills in a group setting, and Group Lessons give students the opportunity to create their own course of study with friends.
MacPhail is one of the few places in the region where kids can join other students with the same abilities and interests in a performance-based group. Admission is through audition or instructor recommendation.
At MacPhail we take the time to match the best teacher with your child’s unique learning style and musical preferences. The right teacher can help a beginner stay motivated and learn to love music and advanced students reach their highest ability.
Suzuki Talent Education:
The Suzuki approach to music is based on the belief that young children can learn to play music in the same way they easily learn their native language – through listening, repetition, encouragement and parent involvement. MacPhail prides itself on a having a well-established Suzuki Talent Education Program, where you take an active role with your child in the education process by attending all lessons and classes as well as practicing daily with your child at home. For 9-12 year olds the Suzuki program expands into additional performance opportunities.
MacPhail’s board certified music therapists use music to accomplish non-musical goals, and build physical, emotional, cognitive and social skills.
Summer camps offer 9-12 years olds a chance to play in an ensemble and reinforce skills learned throughout the year. All camps conclude in an exciting live performance for family and friends in Antonello Hall, First Ave. or other well-known venues.
