MacPhail Suzuki Association – A Parent Volunteer Program
“Strengthening the relationship between child, parent, teacher and the community”
The MacPhail Suzuki Association (MSA) was organized in 1974 by parents of students in the Suzuki Talent Education program at MacPhail. Its purpose is to aid in the development of the MacPhail Suzuki program, serve as a forum for parental input and assistance, and stimulate parental involvement in Suzuki-related activities. Parents work closely with MacPhail staff to strengthen and secure community support for the program. We encourage all parents to become a member of MSA. Parents are invited to participate in MSA volunteer activities.
MSA Meetings are held once a month from October through May. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The MSA relies on membership dues and parent volunteers to support activities. All MacPhail Suzuki parents are strongly encouraged to join the MSA.

MSA Spirit Wear is now available! All spirit wear proceeds will be used to fund student development and scholarships. Spirit wear orders are due on or before October 1st and may be made by completing an order form and returning it to the MSA, Attention Ann Viviano at the Machail front desk. Spirit wear samples are available for sizing and in person orders during the Saturday morning strings program at De La Salle through October 1st.

OUT AND ABOUT
A community concert event sponsored by MSA to share the musical talents of our Suzuki students with various community organizations. Performing in community events not only provides entertainment but also offers our students a fun and rewarding experience. Parent volunteers are needed to work with teachers in identifying and contacting locations and interacting with community contacts and managing event logistics.
MSA organizes recital receptions for the Seniors Concert and Faculty Recitals. At the end-of-the-year recitals, MSA shows its appreciation to teachers and conductors by presenting flowers on behalf of all Suzuki students and parents. Parent volunteers are needed to assist with purchase of drinks, supplies and flowers, and reception setup and cleanup.
The MacPhail Suzuki Association awards a limited number of summer scholarships to attend a music camp, institute or similar activity during summer 2012. A student may receive a maximum of one scholarship. Families may apply for scholarships for more than one student – only one scholarship will be awarded per family. Please complete a separate application for each student. [Note: Music lessons are not eligible.]
Scholarship Form will be available in May 2012.
For all graduating seniors MSA provides the graduation recital reception, flowers and a gift. Volunteers are always needed and encouraged to help with all events. Contact Beth Turco for more information.
