The Overture Preparatory Program is an exciting, new offering at MacPhail Center for Music designed to help aspiring, high school instrumentalists continue to bolster their musical skills and experiences while developing the professional skills necessary to create success in the music business.
The Overture Program is designed for any serious instrumentalist who is intending to pursue music in college and beyond or who is maybe considering music as a career and is simply interested in gaining more exposure to what that entails.. Overture is open to musicians/composers in grades 10-12, in any genre (classical, jazz, rock, etc.).
Overture will take place on Sunday afternoons from November through the end of April. Students will participate in weekly music theory lessons, professional development seminars, chamber music coachings, and other special Overture events. Overture is a two-semester program, it is recommended that students register for both the fall and spring semesters.
Additionally, students will receive guidance and advice from Overture faculty that will help to set and clarify short and long term goals allowing a certain degree of individualization to the program. The overarching goal of the program is to give the students the skills and knowledge to confidently purse their musical and career goals, whatever they may be.
Fall Semester: no audition is necessary. Entrance to the program will be determined by teacher recommendation.
