Jazz is a uniquely American art form that is treasured around the world. Jazz is spontaneous and fun; it expands the imagination and sharpens the mind. Jazz combines note reading with improvisation while placing an emphasis on the social aspects of music making. Creating jazz involves the synthesis of musical genres from the past and present while propelling both the musician and the listener into the new music of the twenty-first century. MacPhail Center for Music is proud to offer instruction in the United States’ artistic offering to the world.
