The Suzuki Program
Promoting a Parent-Teacher-Student Learning Team
Suzuki Talent Education has been a part of MacPhail for over 30 years. Founded by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, the Suzuki method advocates the philosophy that all children are born with potential talent.
MacPhail's Suzuki Talent Education program is unique because aside from offering a weekly individual lesson, all students and parents participate in group classes, studio and department recitals, orchestras and reading classes, parent-teacher conferences and parent membership in the MacPhail Suzuki Association.
To begin a successful Suzuki experience all parents take a required workshop course in which they meet the faculty, learn about the program, participate in group discussion and observe lessons, classes, and student performances. Once students are placed with a teacher parents, children and the instructor work as a team to learn and grow through the Suzuki method.
Suzuki students can also take advantage of MacPhail's wide variety of class and ensemble experiences, many at a discounted rate.
