MacPhaill's premier high school jazz combo, the Dakota Combo is an outstanding group of students selected through a live audition process. With generous support from the Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education, this group will rehearse and perform at various Twin Cities venues throughout the school year and summer jazz festivals in June and early July. Under the direction of jazz artist Adam Linz, rehearsals will be held every other Thursday.
Students were selected for the 2018-2019 Dakota Combo in September, 2018. Auditions for the 2019-2020 Dakota Combo will be held in September of 2019. Check our website in August of 2019 for the audition date and audition materials.
Any student in Grade 9-12 may audition for the combo. All students who are accepted into the Dakota Combo can participate at no cost thanks to support from the Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education.
Please note that the Dakota Combo runs from September-June. We expect full participation at all rehearsals and performances throughout the year.
