This is your chance to be part of the chorus for some of your favorite Broadway shows! Each month we’ll focus on a different musical taking 30 minutes to introduce you to some of the background and notable aspects of the show, then invite you to join us as teaching artists Joey Clark, Andrea Leap, Jerry Rubino and Vicky Mountain (along with other MacPhail faculty guest artists) lead us through the hits. Song sheets will be emailed prior to the event. Participants will be muted, so you can choose to lip-sync or belt out the tunes as you see fit – we’ll never know! In any case, you’re in for a musical adventure with these vocal guides.
September 25: You might not be able to attend the great Minnesota Get-Together, but we’ll bring you State Fair hits such as “It’s a Grand Night for Singing”, “It Might as Well be Spring” and “Isn’t it Kind of Fun?” You supply the pronto pups and mini donuts, we’ll bring the entertainment!
October 16: We could all use “plenty of heart and plenty of hope” as we deal with the challenges we face today, so let’s visit the musical Oklahoma that boasts of these in the title song. You won’t even need to hook up your “Surry with a Fringe on Top”; just click the zoom link to be transported to another place and time!
November 20: You’ll be in for a “Bushel and a Peck” of fun with the lively show Guys and Dolls! Fedoras and mink stoles optional – bedroom slippers encouraged for this living room performance.
January 15: We won’t have to trick you into falling in love with The Fantasticks while singing songs like “Try to Remember”, “Much More” or “Never Say No”. It will literally be a fantastic way to start off the new year!
Participate live online via Zoom.
