Alison Fahy, Suzuki violin instructor at MacPhail, began her violin career at age two, as a Suzuki violin student in Ireland. Alison grew up in a Suzuki violin household as the daughter of a Suzuki violin teacher. She learned the value of Suzuki violin at a young age, and this has shaped her musical personality and the way that she teaches. Alison has been at MacPhail since 2008, but has more than 9 years of teaching experience. She enjoys teaching classical music to students of any age.
Her performance career started when she was a child but some of her most memorable experiences include performing Bruch Violin Concerto with the Youth Orchestra when she was 17 years old; performing in Monte Carlo with her string quartet; performing with the University of Minnesota Symphony Orchestra in Orchestra Hall conducted by Osmo Vanska; and anytime she plays chamber music with her friends!
Alison has a Bachelor of Music from National University of Ireland, a Master of Music from Cork Institute of Technology, Ireland, a Master of Music in violin performance and Suzuki pedagogy from the University of Minnesota, and a Doctorate of Music Arts in violin performance from the University of Minnesota.
