Chi-Chi Lin Bestmann has taught violin and viola in MacPhail’s Individual Instruction and School Partnerships programs since 2018. She holds over 25 years’ experience teaching violin, viola and chamber music in various schools in New York. As a conductor, she worked with The Third Street Music Settlement Philharmonia Orchestra in New York from 2015-2018.

Chi-Chi has always found humor to be the easiest way to convey her joy in sharing music. It is important to provide a safe environment which allows her students to trust and learn with ease. She encourages multi-sensory learning and cultivates parents’ understanding through frequent communication.

She was a participant in the New York Philharmonic’s Conductor Table hosted by Kurt Masur. She won the Lower Strings Competition at Mannes College of Music and performed with Orchestra. She was part of the International Musicians Seminar in Prussia Cove, and served as Guest Conductor of the Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra. She is Founder and Executive Director of Petite Concerts Inc., a nonprofit organization offering live-music experiences to young children, the classical music audiences of the future.

Chi-Chi holds a Bachelors of Music in Orchestral Conducting, a Masters of Music in Viola Performance, and a Professional Studies Diploma in Viola Performance, all from Mannes College of Music.
