Teaching Artist and Music Therapist Deb McTaggart brings over 35 years of music instruction and experience to her students.
She graduated from Bemidji State University with a BA in Music and is a Board Certified Music Therapist. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Gerontology from Bethel University. Deb served as the Music Therapist at Johanna Shores Presbyterian Home for nine years and was a private piano instructor for 15 years prior to pursuing Music Therapy at Augsburg University. She is the former accompanist for the Giving Voice Choruses of Minneapolis and St. Paul. She recently served as a Teaching Artist for numerous MacPhail Music for Life (MMFL) community partnerships in a variety of settings including memory care, adult day programs and assisted living. She currently serves as a substitute Teaching Artist for the MMFL program. Deb sings with the Bemidji State University Alumni Choir and has been involved in leading and supporting music ministry as an organist, pianist, choir director, keyboard player and vocalist.
