Jean Bridge

Guitar Group Coordinator, Guitar, Ukulele

Jean Bridge, a native of the Twin Cities, Suzuki and traditional guitar teacher, began studying classical guitar at the age of 10. She has now been teaching for more than 15 years and found her way to MacPhail in 1998. Described as fun, laid back, but challenging, Jean enjoys teaching students of all ages, from 3-99.  She likes to let her students choose music they love when teaching technique.

Jean can be heard performing in Minnesota Guitar Society events and MacPhail’s faculty concerts. She has also performed in classical guitar master classes.

In 1998 Jean became certified in Suzuki instruction at the Intermountain Suzuki Institute in Park City, Utah, and continued her studies of the Suzuki method at Stevens Point, Wis., Beaver Creek, Colo., and under MacPhail’s Alan Johnston.  She holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Favorite non-musical hobby: Gardening

This performance was recorded in spring 2021 as a keepsake of the 2nd Street Guitar Quartet’s 2019 Spain tour.  This will be their last year together as Silvia Miller is graduating High School and going to study music at the University of Denver, CO this Fall.
I have had the pleasure of coaching/teaching these students for over 9 years! They have performed all over the Twin Cities area-including Hamline University for the Minnesota Guitar Society, Suzuki Association of the America’s Biannual Conference at the Convention Center, Master Classes including the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Honors recitals here at MacPhail, and many many more. Look for them this summer as we are planning on performing as much as possible before fall!
