Jennifer Geise has been teaching piano at MacPhail since 2009. Jennifer is dedicated to developing her students into well-rounded, expressive, confident musicians who enjoy playing. She also teaches online across the US to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Her teaching philosophy includes personalized lessons with technique, theory, performance/listening skills, ear-training, sight-playing and use of technology. She values her relationship with students and teaches anyone who has a genuine interest in and commitment to learning piano, regardless of ability or location.
In 2009, Jennifer was awarded the Music Teachers National Association’s STAR award for outstanding academic, teaching and leadership achievement. She serves as the co-coordinator of MacPhail’s own Crescendo for Piano, which she finds to be a motivating, well-rounded piano program unlike any other! As an avid pianist, she enjoys performing as a soloist and chamber musician in the Twin Cities and beyond. In 2008, she was invited to perform and lead a piano master class in Asia. She values collaborating with other music teachers and playing at her church.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor’s of Music degree in piano performance from Bethel University and a Master’s of Music degree in piano performance from the University of Minnesota.
“She’s patient and understanding and explains things clearly, as well as relating them to the bigger picture of music theory.” –MacPhail Student
“I am impressed that she both motivates and stretches the experiences of older students as well as inspires a love for piano in the youngest kids. She is great at all levels, expecting a lot, but also very encouraging.” –MacPhail Student
