Joshua Cameron taught at MacPhail from 2006 to 2009, and returned in 2012 to the trumpet and cornet faculty. Through MacPhail, and at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, he has over 10 years teaching experience. He believes everyone progresses at their own speed, and that one style or method doesn’t apply to everyone. Joshua is open to working with beginning through advanced students in a wide variety of styles.
He is an active freelance artist in the Twin Cities, and formerly in the Milwaukee area. Previously, he served as the Principal Trumpet with the Menomonee Falls Symphony and substitute for the Festival City Symphony, Wisconsin Philharmonic, and LaCrosse Symphony. Currently, he is a regular member of the local R&B/Soul group High & Mighty and regular substitute with the Copper Street Brass Quintet. His various studio and recording credits and guest soloist appearances include Target Field for the Minnesota Twins, and at Orchestra Hall alongside trumpeter Allen Vizzutti and pianist Don Irwin.
Joshua holds a Bachelor’s of Music Performance from St. Olaf College and Master’s of Music Performance from the University of Minnesota.
“He does well by pushing me to my limit and is good at explaining things.” –MacPhail Student
