Julia Clearman joined MacPhail’s Suzuki piano faculty in 2012. She teaches to inspire students to achieve mastery of music and performance by cultivating a deep love for classical repertoire through intentional community developed in private and group lessons.
A Suzuki piano instructor for 10 years and individual instructor for 12 years, Julia has been a collegiate guest lecturer; a member of Suzuki Association of Minnesota, Suzuki Association of the Americas, American College of Musicians, and National Guild of Piano Teachers. Her favorite performances include works by Barber, Brahms, and Schubert, and when she toured extensively as a pianist with the Northwestern Choir; in addition to touring the upper Midwest as a solo performer.
Her training includes a Bachelor’s of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Northwestern-St. Paul, as well as currently working on a Master’s of Arts in Psychology for Musicians from the University of Sheffield, UK. She is registered in Suzuki Pedagogy, Levels 1-6.
