Carolyn Liptak has been teaching violin in MacPhail’s School Partnership program since 2012. A private violin teacher of 38 years, she also coaches the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphony’s string sectionals during the school year and for summer camps.
Carolyn teaches because she loves being with children. Her greatest goal is to help them become more of their own unique self. Violin helps inspire their own voice, their participation in community, and their strength in character.
She played four years with the Savannah Symphony, 12 years with the Duluth Symphony, and four years with Rochester Symphony. She has been a member of the Northern Lights String Quartet for 21 years, performing school programs through Thursday Musical as well as giving recitals in the Twin Cities area.
Carolyn holds a Bachelors degree in Violin Performance from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. She studied with Detlef Hahn at the Guild Hall School of Music in London. As a high school student, she studied with MacPhail faculty member Gary Sipes.
