Tate, Jane

Sing Play Learn with MacPhail®

Jane Tate has been teaching piano in the Sing Play Learn with MacPhail® program since 2016. She has taught private piano lessons for more than 10 years at various studios around the Twin Cities. She has worked as an Early Childhood Music instructor for 5 years, and currently privately teaches in her home studio in Maple Grove.

Jane’s teaching philosophy is that all children have the capability to learn music. As a teacher it is her job to discover the learning styles of every child that walks through the door. Learning music can provide, a connection where there might not be one, emotional balance, math, structure, pattern recognition, and confidence!

Growing up in England, Jane has been lucky enough to perform all over the UK and other parts of Europe. Most notably, she was a piano soloist at The Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.  She sang for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in The Royal Albert Hall, London. She was a vocalist at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. In 2014, she was voted “Best Music Lessons” in Maple Grove. In 2016, Jane began publishing pedagogical piano pieces for the “Composers Community” a division of Piano Pronto Publishing. She is a member of St. Marks Episcopal Cathedral Choir.

Jane holds a Bachelor’s of Music from the University of Saint Thomas in Piano Performance, and also studied piano pedagogy in addition to performance.
