Live at the Library
Through MacPhail’s partnership with the Metropolitan Library Service Agency (MELSA), we provide musical storytimes and live music performances at libraries throughout the Twin Cities.
“Sing, Play, Learn with MacPhail” musical story-times are interactive, hands-on music classes that utilize music as a vehicle to enhance literacy. These classes engage young children (ages birth- 5 years) and their families through singing, moving, creating, and playing with one another with music. Adult participants learn how engaging in musical activities can enhance their child’s development and make connections to pre-literacy skill development all through musical play. Classes take place at various libraries throughout and beyond the Twin Cities metro area.
“Live at the Library” music performances engage children and adults of all ages to experience live music at their local library. Performances vary from jazz, classical, contemporary to folk. Performances feature learning opportunities to both educate and entertain all age audiences.
