How it Works
Access for All: In 2016, more than 8,500 students accessed MacPhail programs at little or no cost through $710,000 in subsidized community partnerships. An additional 800 students received $490,000 in financial aid toward the MacPhail offering of their choice. In total, MacPhail distributed $1.2M in assistance to more than half of its student population.
Master Classes and Workshops are presented throughout the year by MacPhail’s talented teaching artists and outside guests. These opportunities are offered to MacPhail students at no cost. Master Classes and Workshops focus on technique, intonation, improvisation and performance practices on one or more of the 35 instruments MacPhail offers.
Performing is at the heart of learning to play music. MacPhail provides a broad range of opportunities to perform. More than 400 recitals are scheduled each year, ranging from informal recitals to auditioned honors recitals.
World Class Facility: MacPhail’s 55,000 ft., state-of-the-art downtown Minneapolis headquarters features 56 instructional studios, 9 classrooms and lecture rooms and two performance halls. MacPhail has four locations beyond the Twin Cities Metro and over 127 different community partnerships.
