Donors: Howard and Susan Swartz

San Miguel de Allende, one the most beautiful mid-sized cities in Mexico, is known for its old-world charm and first world amenities. It is a colorful, colonial-style city with a vibrant food and wine scene, markets, music, and artisans galore. The Swartz home, located in the heart of historic San Miguel de Allende, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is ideally situated for experiencing the town’s cultural riches and stunning natural beauty. This enchanting residence with lovely outdoor spaces also has full access to Rosewood Hotel amenities.

Additional information – Howard and Susan welcome you to be their guests for a one-week stay when they are in residence from November 2023 through March 2024, Guests will have a king bedroom with en-suite bath. Susan and Howard will do as much or as little as guests prefer in the way of guiding you to concerts, restaurants and cultural sites.

Warren Mack has been perfecting his seafood paella recipe for years.  This classic Spanish dish will be the focal point at a festive dinner for 8. What a culinary delight – lobster, shrimp, mussels, chorizo and rice round out this amazing dish, not to mention the special paella pan used to bring the flavors together. On the beach at Madeline Island or at the Mack house near Lake of the Isles in Minneapolis.

Mark Weller is a fulltime lens-based Wisconsin artist with a national reputation.  “I use my camera like a painter uses a brush.  It moves, lingers, explores and dances with my subjects.” Weller uses ‘timestacking’, multiple exposures are stacked and intermingled to create the final image. The Lights of Michigan Island blends traditional photography with new technologies creating an altered look at a familiar Apostle Islands landmark.

Enjoy a relaxing or adventure-filled (your choice) cruise aboard Dawn Treader! The boat is an all wood Vicem (pronounced Vee chem) Classic Flybridge. Built in Turkey in 2009, the boat’s hull is made of cold formed mahogany and its interior features the woodworking craftsmanship that is a tradition in Turkey. It is 72 feet in length with a beam of 18 feet and cruises at 24 kts. (28 mph) with a maximum speed of 32 kts. (37 mph).

In 2009 this beautiful boat was featured on the cover of Yachting magazine. Susan and Tom Brust, the boat owners, named it after the ship in the C.S. Lewis series The Chronicles of Narnia. They look forward to welcoming you aboard!

Additional details: The ship sets sail from the Madeline Island Yacht Club Marina on August 19th for your choice of a 2-hour lunch or happy hour cruise. The boat can accommodate 8 guests.
