PLAYING FOR THE JOY OF IT
Eric, Age 34, Adult student
At the age of 34, Eric is “re-inventing” himself. After an eight year break, Eric decided it was time to start taking piano lessons again, but first he needed to find an instructor who would foster his needs as an adult student. Since he knows he is never going to play in Carnegie Hall, Eric was searching for an instructor who has a structured but relaxed teaching style, one who stresses the enjoyment of playing and encourages him to play music he loves. Finding her at MacPhail was the easy part. Now it’s finding the time to practice which can be challenging. But Eric likes to challenge himself by taking on pieces that are more difficult. He hopes to someday master one of his favorite piano solos by Maurice Ravel, and then celebrate his accomplishment with a tattoo of a measure or two!
