Stella Anderson

Viola, Violin

Stella Anderson, violin and viola instructor at MacPhail, has more than 35 years of teaching experience. She enjoys working with students of all ages, bringing qualities of friendliness and fun to her lessons, while at the same time being firm.

She is currently the principal viola of the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra, a member of the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra and a member of the WomenperformHers.  As a freelance musician, Stella has played in Carnegie Hall with the Minnesota Orchestra and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. She has also served as president of the Minnesota chapter of the American String Teachers Association and the Minnesota Viola Society.

Originally from Hawaii, Stella performed with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra while attending the University of Hawaii. She received her Bachelor of Music Education degree at Indiana University.
