  1. We believe privacy and data protection are human rights
  2. We take protecting your privacy seriously, and we recognize we have a duty of care to the people whose data we hold
  3. We will only collect and process data when it is necessary, and when we do, we will make it clear why we are doing so and how it will be used
  4. We will not send you regular email newsletters that you have not subscribed to—we hate spam as much as you do! We will always give you the choice to unsubscribe

MacPhail Center for Music (“MacPhail,” ‘we,” “us” or ‘our”) respects your privacy online when you visit our website at www.MacPhail.org or any website linked to this privacy policy (collectively the “Site”), by adhering to our practices described in this online privacy policy (“Policy”). Please read this Policy to understand how your information that you provide will be treated as you make use of our online offerings. We maintain reasonable administrative, physical, and technical measures to protect the security of your personal information you submit on or through this Site. For example, we use the industry standard secure socket layer (SSL) to protect the security of your online order information. SSL technology encrypts your order information. However, no website, server or database is completely secure or “hacker proof.” We therefore cannot guarantee that your personal information will not be disclosed, misused or lost by accident or by the unauthorized acts of others.

Information you Provide to MacPhail
We may collect certain information you provide to us when using the Site, such as your name, address, telephone numbers, credit card or financial information, mailing address, e-mail address, interests and newsletter preferences.

Information We Collect Automatically
When you visit the Site, our servers automatically collect information about the IP address from which you access the Site, the pages you visit, the date and time you access the Site, and the type of browser and operating system that you are using.

How Data is Being Collected: Information you Provide to MacPhail

Registration/Enrollment/Creating an Account
It is expected that information shared with MacPhail during enrollment is given with the consent of a parent or guardian. MacPhail does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian.

Once enrolled, MacPhail collects a student’s personal information for the purposes of music education. This information is used to keep you informed about events and activities at MacPhail and to offer you the benefits and features offered with enrollment.

Information collected for enrolled students includes names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, gender and date of birth. Payer information is also collected. Further, academic and financial information provided by you may be collected and maintained to provide financial aid and/or scholarships.

Student records are kept permanently.

Tuition and Payments
MacPhail utilizes third-party companies for electronic payments and donations. Please see the third-party’s security policies for details on how they collect and utilize any data they may collect.

E-Mail Content and Newsletters.
You may choose to provide us with personal information in an e-mail message to one of the addresses listed throughout the Site or by registering for our e-mail newsletter. We use this information only to respond to your message or to register you for the services you have requested. If you sign up for an e-mail newsletter, you have the option to unsubscribe at any time. Any information you choose to provide regarding special interests may be used for marketing and promotional purposes. By providing this information, you may receive occasional e-mail messages from MacPhail.

Information Collected by Web Beacons and Pixels.
We may use other, similar technologies from time to time, like web beacons, pixels (or “clear gifs”) and other tracking technologies. Pixels are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enable us to recognize when someone has visited our Site. This allows us, for example, to monitor the traffic patterns of visitors from one page within our Site to another, to deliver or communicate with cookies, to understand whether you have come to our Site from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to serve targeted advertisements to you and others like you, to improve site performance, and to measure the success of marketing campaigns.

We may use information gathered through our Site to create a compiled, aggregate view of our Site’ audiences and usage patterns. We use aggregated information to operate our programs and to better understand our visitors as we develop new programs and services. This site contains links to other websites. Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These other websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. We encourage all our partners, contributors, and third parties to implement policies and practices that respect the privacy of our users. However, MacPhail is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of such websites.

Third Pary Data Practices and Collection
MacPhail may from time to time retain third-party vendors in order to help us manage the Site and allow us to better serve our visitors and students. These may include third-party vendors we engage to analyze the information we collect for marketing or similar purposes.

We may also contract with third parties who use cookies to collect information on our behalf. We may contract with companies or others to provide certain services, including credit card processing, data management, promotional services, etc. We provide these service providers with the information they need to perform these services.

Opt-Out

If you don’t want your name and/or contact information to be used in the manner described in this Policy, you may indicate this at the time you provide the information. If an “opt-out” option is not offered, or you decide after you have provided this information that you do not want us to share your information with us or our third parties, you may also notify us at [email protected] We cannot, however, remove your name from any third-party list; you will have to contact them directly.

Do Not Track

Do Not Track Mechanisms. Because of the changing state of technology and indecision within the industry regarding the meaning of Do Not Track requests, we currently do not make any guarantee that we will honor Do Not Track requests.

Media Permissions

MacPhail reserves the right to use photos taken during lessons, classes and events. These photos may be used in brochures, advertising or for public relations purposes. Photographs featuring registered students are considered eligible for publication or public use unless the students (or parent/guardian of students under 18) submit a request for non-use in writing to the Student Services Center prior to the date when the photograph appears. Every effort will be made to accommodate students’ requests.

Children Under the Age of Thirteen

It is important to MacPhail to protect the privacy of young children who may use our website. Our Site is not intended for children or minors under the age of thirteen years without the permission of a parent or guardian. Parents or legal guardians of a child under the age of 13 must complete the student placement form and consent to the submission of request for placement at MacPhail. If you believe that a child has submitted personal information on or through our Site without the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian, please contact us using the information provided below so that we can take appropriate action.
