Make a Gift of Stock

Stock gifts allow you to take advantage of tax savings, and are an easy and convenient way to support MacPhail Center for Music. Stock gifts are tax deductible to the full extent provided by law. To make a gift, please follow the steps below.

  1. Please provide your broker with MacPhail’s brokerage account information.

Brokerage: US Bank Corp Investments, 60 Livingston Ave, St. Paul, MN 55107
Account #: 12784591
DTC#: 0280
Federal Tax ID #: 41-1729340

  1. Please send to MacPhail at the contact information below a copy of your request to your broker:

Brian Braden
Vice President of Finance
MacPhail Center for Music
501 South Second Street
Minneapolis, MN 55401

Braden.Brian@macphail.org

Please notify MacPhail when you have completed your stock transfer request to your broker. When you inform us of your stock gift, with your name, we can then send you a tax receipt for our records. If you do not notify us, we do not know who donated stock because the bank does not inform us of the donor.

Give through your Donor Advised Fund

A donor advised fund (DAF) acts like a charitable savings account, allowing you to make a charitable donation, receive an immediate tax benefit, and then recommend grants to charitable organizations from your fund over time. MacPhail welcomes gifts from your donor advised fund.

Employer Matching Gifts

Many companies match an employee’s donation to non-profit organizations like MacPhail with a corporate donation of the same amount. Your contribution is effectively doubled.

Please check with your employer—typically your Human Resources department—to see if they have a matching gift program. Most companies ask you to complete and return a short paper or online form and may require MacPhail’s tax identification number: 41-1729340.

If your employer uses a paper form, please complete your section and mail it with your donation to:

MacPhail Center for Music
501 South Second Street
Minneapolis, MN 55401

If your employer uses an online form, MacPhail will be notified by your employer of the application.

IRA Charitable Rollover Gift

The IRA Charitable Rollover enables you to make an income tax-free transfer of any amount up to $100,000 per year from your IRA to a qualified charity like MacPhail if:

  • You are at least 70½ years of age on the day of the gift.
  • You transfer the funds directly from your IRA. This opportunity applies only to IRAs and not to other types of retirement plans.

Also known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), this charitable distribution can help fulfill your required minimum distribution and is not considered taxable income.

In-Kind Gifts

MacPhail accepts tax-deductible donations of tangible property such as musical instruments and sheet music/musical scores/lesson books. MacPhail is required to assess each item prior to acceptance. We are happy to talk with you about an item you are considering for donation.

2019 Scholarships & Named Funds (PDF)

Creating and naming gift funds provides a meaningful way for donors to pay tribute to loved ones, friends and mentors, and is a source of vital support for MacPhail.

  • A minimum initial gift of $5,000 is required to create and name a current expendable fund.
  • A minimum initial gift of $25,000 is required to create and name a permanent endowed fund.

MacPhail is grateful to donors for enabling scholarships and programming now and in the years ahead. If you’re interested in exploring scholarships and named funds, please contact Lisa Salzl or call 612.767.5327.
