Summer Chamber Music – Session 2: August 19-29

Make playing an instrument even more exciting and enjoyable by joining one of MacPhail’s chamber music groups!

Students are placed into small ensembles based on age and playing level. Ensembles will be coached by multiple MacPhail faculty for five 60-minute sessions, culminating in a recital performance on Thursday, August 29, at 7:30pm. Each ensemble will also have opportunities for independent rehearsal at MacPhail during the two-week session.

A placement audition video is required for participation.

• If you are also participating in a MacPhail summer camp, you may submit the same video created for the camp audition.
• Participants who created a video audition recently for a youth orchestra, such as GTCYS, MYS, MMEA All-State or Mid-Level Honors, may submit a link to these videos as their placement video.
• Otherwise, a recent recital video clip or a home-recorded video of about 2-3 minutes of a sample of the student’s playing to give an idea of their current playing level and ability is needed.

**A NOTE REGARDING SCHEDULING:

• All coaching sessions and performance will be scheduled between 6:30-8:30pm.
• Dates for this session are: 8/19, 8/20, 8/21, 8/22, 8/26, 8/27, and 8/28. Participants must be available for at least 5 of these dates during the 6:30-8:30pm timeframe.
• Availability on Thursday 8/29 is MANDATORY. Please don’t sign up for this offering if you can’t be available 6:30-8:30pm on that date.

Chamber music coordinator Jeremy Swider will work with every applicant’s schedule to find 5 coaching hours that work for each group, plus some extra rehearsal time.

This activity qualifies for a Music Plus Discount of 15% if you or anyone in your family is enrolled in Individual, Music Therapy or Suzuki instruction.
