Karin (Boyce) Valdizan, violin and viola teacher believes it’s important to create a comfortable lesson environment where students should be allowed to make mistakes and explore music without fear. Though she has an easy-going nature, she is also serious about musicianship and technique. Karin encourages her students to have input in their lessons, while guiding music selection and choosing appropriate technical studies. An instructor at MacPhail since 1998, Karin teaches at both the Minneapolis and White Bear Lake locations, maintaining a large private studio along with teaching School Partnerships and beginning group classes for young children. She also teaches in the Community Partnership Program, Violin for Children group lessons, and the Piano and Violin Sampler class.
In addition to her position at MacPhail, Karin is an active solo and chamber musician around the Twin Cities and serves as second chair in the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra.
She has her Bachelor of Arts degree in music and German from Luther College and her Master of Music in violin performance from the University of Texas at Austin.
