Natasha Stark

Piano

Natasha Stark is a piano instructor and board-certified music therapist (MT-BC). She is a native of Des Moines, Iowa, where she started her personal piano studio in 2015 and specialized in teaching young beginners. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from the University of Minnesota in 2022. Natasha’s education as a music therapist greatly informs her teaching. She has experience creating positive musical experiences for children, teens, and adults of all abilities and disabilities. She approaches teaching with a person-focused mindset and prioritizes developing a positive relationship with her students. Natasha has experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD. Using a strengths-based approach, she adapts her teaching style to the abilities of each individual student.

Natasha believes that beginner students, especially children, benefit from a low-pressure, exploratory approach to the piano. As an instructor, she creates caring relationships with her students and follows their instinctual desires to explore the keyboard. Natasha strives to foster a playful environment in which her students are intrinsically motivated by a love for music rather than a fear of disappointing their teacher.
