Sartory String Quartet Institute: July 6-10

Join us for the 2026 Sartory String Quartet Institute!

Students at this 5-day Institute are placed in chamber ensembles with other students of similar age and proficiency. All ensembles receive daily coachings in preparation for a recital performance at the end of the Institute. In addition to these small ensembles, students play together in a chamber orchestra and experience what it’s like to perform in a larger group without a conductor.

The final performances will be held on Friday, July 10, at 2:00pm, with any additional performances TBA.

This is an audition-based camp. In order to attend the camp, all students must audition through recorded video auditions and be accepted into the camp. Please record all three audition requirements (scale, piece and excerpts) in three separate files. Audition requirements:

1. 3-octave scale of your choice
2. Solo piece that demonstrates your tone and technique
3. Excerpts — you may prepare one, two, or all three of the excerpts for your instrument below. Please consult with your private teacher to determine which excerpts to include.

• Violin excerpts
• Cello excerpts
• Viola excerpts

Minimum level requirements:

Violin: La Folia or Suzuki Book 5 level

Viola: Telemann Concerto or Suzuki Book 4 level

Cello: Dvorak Humoresque or Suzuki Book 4 level

Students must submit audition video by April 30. Students may register for camp only after receiving an acceptance letter.
