Amalie Niethammer joined MacPhail—Austin’s Individual Instruction faculty in 2018. She teaches a variety of woodwind and brass instruments including baritone/euphonium, clarinet, flute, French horn, saxophone, trombone, trumpet/cornet, and tuba.

Amalie believes that any student can learn music, and it is her job as a teacher to meet them where they are and help them achieve their goals.

She currently teaches grade 5-12 band at Southland Public Schools. Previously, she taught grade 7-8 band at Houston Public Schools as well as beginning band at St. Paul Public Schools. She has taught private lessons since 1999.

Amalie is a member of the Austin Symphony Orchestra, and holds a Master of Arts in Music Education – Instrumental Concentration from University of St. Thomas and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from St. Olaf College.
