Faculty

Holly Dalager

Oboe, Piano, Band
Location: Austin

Holly Dalager has taught oboe in MacPhail’s Individual Instruction and School Partnerships programs since 2014 and piano since 2020. Having taught private piano, oboe and flute lessons since 1988, she also established MacPhail’s band program partnership with Pacelli Catholic Schools in 2014.

Holly’s philosophy is to teach the individual, rather than pushing certain expectations on students. She wants them to feel welcome and encouraged.

She is Concerto soloist with Austin Symphony and St. Paul Civic Symphony, and has served as principal oboist for Austin Symphony since 1986. Her many ensemble experiences include the University of Minnesota, Rochester Symphony and LaCrosse Symphony. She has received numerous awards, including ones from the Schubert Club, Thursday Musical, Adath Jeshurun, Susan Rosenthal, Sigma Alpha Iota, and was a two-time WAMSO finalist.

Holly holds a Bachelors and Masters of Music in Performance from the University of Minnesota. She has studied with three Minnesota Orchestra oboists, as well as at the Interlochen Summer Music Camp.
