Joseph Kosowski

Piano

Joseph was born and raised on the northside of Minneapolis, and resides there today. He spent his youth as a Suzuki piano student, beginning studies at age 3, and took lessons throughout high school with teachers in the Twin Cities area.

While studying french horn performance at DePaul University, Joseph also continued his piano studies with Melody Lord, the associate principal pianist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He began teaching piano in Chicago in 2007, and did so until moving back to Minneapolis in 2014. He has completed Suzuki piano teacher training courses for books 1-4 with both Caroline Fraser and Aubrey Faith-Slaker.

Joseph joined the MacPhail Suzuki Piano Department faculty in September of 2022.

For the last 8 years, Joseph has also been a Suzuki parent. He attended Suzuki Early Childhood Education classes for three years with each of his two sons, and has also spent the last several years attending violin and cello lessons and group classes for each of them as well.

Joseph also works full time in information technology for the Minneapolis Public Schools, and when not at the piano, teaching, or working on computers, Joseph can often be found in his backyard, smoking pork spareribs and listening to Minnesota Twins baseball games.
