Location: Minneapolis

Scott J. Brunscheen is a dedicated and experienced voice teacher with a passion for guiding singers toward artistic authenticity and technical excellence. He has taught private voice for over a decade alongside adjunct instruction appointments at Drake University and Central College. His teaching philosophy centers on empowering students to discover and embrace their individual sound while building a healthy, flexible technique that can serve a wide range of repertoire.

As a tenor soloist, Scott has earned national recognition for his performances in repertoire spanning from the earliest known operas to world premiers. He has performed with Opera Lafayette at the Kennedy Center, Haymarket Opera, Chicago Opera Theater, Madison Opera, Long Beach Opera, and the Caramoor Bel Canto Festival, among others. His interpretations have been praised by Opera News, The Chicago Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, and other major publications. Scott has had the privilege of working under the direction of many esteemed conductors, including Christophe Rousset, Christian Curnyn, Will Crutchfield, Martin Haselböck, Andreas Mitisek, and Jory Vinikour—collaborations that have shaped his interpretive depth and informed his approach to various performance practices.

In addition to his operatic performances, Scott is a sought-after concert soloist, having appeared in major works by Bach, Handel, Haydn, Orff, Mendelssohn, Britten, and others. He can be heard on a recording of Agostino Steffani duets released by Musica Omnia.

With a commitment to nurturing each singer’s growth, Scott brings both his performance experience and pedagogical insight to the voice studio. He is a graduate of University of Utah (BM) and Roosevelt University (MM) and has studied with Michael Sylvester, Julia Faulkner, Darrell Babidge, and Robert Breault.
