Sonia Larson joined MacPhail’s faculty in 2015, teaching piano and voice in Individual Instruction. She worked with the MacPhail Children’s Community Chorus for 3 years and taught a singing class for Adult English Language Learners.
Sonia greatly enjoys the diversity that the Austin area provides and likes teaching all ages and levels, from beginner to advanced. She likes meeting each student at his or her level of experience and helping develop their knowledge, technique, and love of music.
She has also served as adjunct faculty for Riverland Community College and Luther College, and she has been the chorusmaster for the Austin Symphony Orchestra since 1997. She is long time Children’s Choir director at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music (concentration in piano) from Eastern Washington University and a Master of Fine Arts in vocal performance from the University of Minnesota.
