Tim Davis has been teaching Saxophone, Trombone, and Trumpet/Cornet for MacPhail’s individual instruction department and summer camps since 2015. A band director since 1985, he has taught at all levels of public schools but spent the majority of time teaching 5th and 6th grade band.
The students Tim teaches are the ones with the desire to further their studies beyond what is taught at school. He helps students with their auditions for state Honor Bands as well as All-State auditions.
He plays lead trumpet with the Southern Minnesota REAL Big Band and is also principal trumpet with the Austin, Minnesota Symphony Orchestra. He also works with a small but dedicated group learning Mariachi Music. A memorable performance was being asked to sub in for trumpet with the band called ‘Beginnings’, a Chicago Tribute Band, during their performance in Albert Lea.
Tim received his Bachelor of Music degree from Arizona State University in 1984 and his Masters from University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 2010.
“Mr. Davis is a fantastic instructor and mentor. I’ve been able to sit in on a class and he works quickly, efficiently and patiently with my son.”
“He has a great ability to encourage my son’s growth but not push him too hard.”
