William Brueggemann

Jazz & Contemporary Piano Instructor, Piano, Voice, Composition, Songwriting, Film Scoring, Music Production

William Brueggemann is a composer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose work is rooted in a deep love of melody and emotional storytelling. Writing across concert music, film and game scoring, as well as contemporary songwriting, his work reflects a lifelong fascination with the expressive possibilities of sound. Whether through the intimacy of a solo piano piece, the sweep of an orchestral score, or the directness of a song, his music seeks to create moments of connection between performers, listeners, and collaborators.

Brueggemann is co-host of the long-running video game music podcast Super Marcato Bros. and co-creator of the film music analysis podcast UnderScore. He has contributed to film and television scoring through collaborations with Emmy and Grammy-winning composer and jazz artist Mark Isham, providing score coordination, orchestration/arranging and additional music for projects including Justified: City Primeval and Messi’s World Cup: Rise of a Legend on Apple TV+.

In addition to his work as a composer, Brueggemann writes and records singer-songwriter material under the name Will Rover and performs in the soul-pop duo Ember Willow with his wife and musical collaborator Emma. Based in the Twin Cities, he teaches in the Contemporary Music Program at MacPhail, working with students in piano, voice, guitar, songwriting, composition, film/game scoring, orchestration, and music production. His teaching emphasizes creativity and musical curiosity, empowering each student to discover their own artistic voice.
