Crescendo for Piano
New! Crescendo for Piano Summer Session
Crescendo for Piano Summer Session is a shortened version of the Crescendo for Piano program. It provides enrichment for your individual lessons, gives motivation and goals to work towards, and guides you through the Crescendo piano curriculum level by level.
This summer, we are giving new and returning Crescendo students the opportunity to continue their musical growth by adding a play-a-thon, final jury, and 6 music labs:
Labs/Classes on Wednesdays

How it works:
Music lab students will be split into Zoom groups depending on level and age. The fun, educational and interactive hour-long sessions, led by MacPhail faculty, will focus on music history and theory, practice strategies, solving technical problems, and meetings with professional musicians.
Play-a-thons are casual performance opportunities for Crescendo students to try their pieces and get feedback from other instructors.
Juries are the final event of the Summer Piano for Crescendo session, providing students the opportunity to demonstrate their practice and progress.
Crescendo for Piano – Year-Round Session
Preparatory through Level 10: $115 per year
Crescendo for Adults: $62 per year
Crescendo, Italian for “growing,” encourages and promotes students’ growth at all stages of musical development. The program aims to develop well-rounded musicians, recognize students’ progress and set benchmarks for the advancement of musical skills.
Crescendo for Piano is a year-long program, September through June, guiding students through graded levels of repertoire, theory questions and technical work. Crescendo also encourages development of musicianship, motivates students by tracking and rewarding progress, develops performance skills, provides an opportunity outside of the private studio for professional feedback, and helps develop the student into a well-rounded musician.
Students must be enrolled in a minimum of eight hours of private instruction per semester at MacPhail. Specific requirements for each level are detailed in the handbook. New students may join Crescendo in the Spring Semester; the cost will be prorated.
