Michael Cain Appointed Vice President of Music Education

MacPhail Center for Music has appointed Michael Cain as its new Vice President of Music Education.
An internationally recognized pianist, composer, and educator, Cain brings more than 30 years of experience in music performance and higher education. He is the founding director of MacPhail’s Electronic Music and Recording Arts (EMRA) program and has played a key role in advancing innovation at the organization, both through EMRA and by mentoring and recruiting exceptional faculty.
“Michael’s collaborative spirit has fostered strong relationships across departments and throughout the community,” says Paul Babcock, CEO of MacPhail. “Through his leadership of EMRA, his contributions to the Up Tempo! campaign, and his work on our strategic planning committee, he has demonstrated a deep commitment to MacPhail’s mission. We’re thrilled he’s stepping into this role.”
As Vice President of Music Education, Cain will oversee all core program areas, including individual and group instruction, Suzuki, Sing Play Learn with MacPhail, MacPhail Music for Life, EMRA, and the Global Music Initiative. In this capacity, he will lead strategic and operational efforts to ensure excellence in programming and a transformative experience for every student.
“I’m excited to take on this role because I care deeply about the people and purpose of MacPhail,” says Cain. “It’s a chance to support our amazing faculty, grow meaningful programs, and help more people find joy in making music.”
