Music is an integral part of our community and world. While a wonderful outlet for creative expression and entertainment, music is also one of the few activities that engages all areas of your brain simultaneously and is a proven form of therapy and release. Research demonstrates the powerful impact music has across the lifespan, from a small child strengthening pre-math or pre-literacy skills, to stimulating the mind of an individual living with Alzheimer’s.
It is important for us here at MacPhail to not only share our knowledge of how to play music with our students, but to help raise awareness and advocate for the power of music to the whole community.
In this section, we invite you to browse some of the research and article links, videos and photographs to learn more about the benefits of music.
