Walter Tambor

Voice

Walter Tambor began teaching voice with the MacPhail Music for Life program in 2016. Walter also serves as Director of Contemporary and World Music at The Basilica of Saint Mary where he directs the adult world music ensemble, Mundus, and the high school ensemble, Juventus.

Walter believes each choir has a unique sound and quality, but each of his ensembles demonstrate a warmth of sound partnered with a sensitive clarity of text. The goal is to always serve the intention of the composer, finding the joy and heart of each piece of music.

Since 2007, Walter has served as assistant conductor and accompanist to the Minneapolis Youth Chorus, an education outreach program of the Minnesota Chorale. Prior to moving to Minneapolis in 2004, he was a staff member at the Chicago Children’s Choir Academy and Pathways to Development Piano Instructor in the DePaul University Community Music School.

Walter is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and DePaul University.
